This is a hefty bracelet that reminds me of something out of the Victorian era! It is created by combining Helm Weave and Byzantine Weave. The name Helm chain comes from a Finnish term and describes a chain made with parallel rings held together with smaller rings, orbited by a single larger ring. This bracelet is a variation of the chain in which two chains run parallel to each other and are then connected by smaller rings and additional orbiting larger rings. The Byzantine weave (is also referred to as “Idiot’s Delight”, “Fool’s Dilemma” and “Birdcage”). This is one of the most famous chainmaille weaves and belongs to the European family of weaves. There are claims that this weave is more than 2,000 years old. It is very popular for jewelry and is pleasant to look at, as it folds back on itself in a way that plays tricks on your eyes a bit. This particular bracelet is made of Stainless Steel and Enameled Copper in red and vintage bronze colors. The 14 Gauge bracelet weighs in at 4.5 ounces so you will know you are wearing it. It is almost 7.75 inches long and almost 1.5 inches wide. It is finished with a stainless steel tube clasp.

If the heft and dimensions of this item are not for you, the 16 gauge version is also available. It is made of the same materials except the red rings are bronze (dark golden) instead and it is much lighter, yet still substantial. That bracelet is 7.5 inches long and 1 inch wide.
